Part of the Historic Reed-Niland Corner restoration project in Colo, Iowa. The Reed-Niland Complex includes: Restored gas station, restaurant, motel and original neon signs. Conveniently located in Central Iowa, approx. 20 miles from Ames. 40 miles from Des Moines and 25 miles from Marshalltown.
The complex is located at the Crossroads of the historic Lincoln and Jefferson Highways: the oldest continuous north-south and east-west roads in the United States. The Lincoln Highway runs from Times Square to San Francisco and the Jefferson Highway from Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA to New Orleans, LA, USA.
Self-guided tour and information. Additional displays and information in restaurant. Jefferson and Lincoln highway markers on site. Geocaching, bike trails in area and free Union Pacific train whistles in the distance.
Six restored motel rooms with A/C, wireless internet, 3/4 bath and cable TV. Shaded picnic area. Hickory Grove County park (swimming, boating & fishing) nearby. Onsite restaurant opening soon. All rooms are non-smoking. Photo opportunities!
